Ommolbanin “Shamsia” Hassani was born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran.
Shamsia has displayed her artistic skills and talent since childhood (4 years of age) and used to paint much differently from her classmates of the same age.
She started the academic program of art in faculty of fine arts of Kabul university in 2006 and also studied contemporary arts in CCAA (center for contemporary arts of Afghanistan ) in the same year.
After graduating in 2009, she was selected as one of the top ten artist in Afghanistan. The ten selected artists then decided to make a new association of contemporary arts by name of “ROSHD”, and left CCAA.
When she started contemporary arts, she didn’t have a specific style, but she has now found a way of expressing her art, and mostly use fishes to communicate individual and social situations through her paintings. Fishes and their words have become a part of the concept in her paintings, always feeling her presence among them.
